Cycling For Girls was formed after it’s founder, Melanie Flude had started cycling after being told that she could no longer run anymore due to injury. Having always cycled, it was only when she started to take cycling more seriously that she struggled to find a website that provided all the information needed to get started in cycling. Even though there are some fantastic sites out there with lots of information, she thought that a ‘one stop shop’ was needed to support and encourage more women to start and stay cycling.
Cycling For girls will mainly concentrate on the grass roots of developing womens’ cycling, supporting British cycling www.britishcycling.org.uk and it’s Breeze initiative www.goskyride.com/breeze. The website will provide the basics to get started and will be regularly updated. We hope you enjoy the new site, which will start to develop and grow as it gets itself established. If there are any articles you’d like to see on the site, we welcome suggestions, after all it’s a website to support you the female cyclist.
